| Presently Dehesa de los Canónigos is an estate made
up by six hundred hectares, out of which seventy are covered by
vineyard. Among its vineyards painstakingly cultivated, Tinto Fino,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Albillo varieties can be found.
It is noteworthy mentioning that the winery, along with its parent company, was the first one to plant vines when the Duero’s area was being repopulated. This took place when the Abbot of Santa María de Valbuena was heading the abbey for third time, with vines from Burgundy. Upon the Dissentailment of the Church property, it landed in private hands but the fruit quality was indeed kept. The estate also embraces one hundred ninety eight hectares of pine grove, five thousand olive trees of Arbequina variety as well as beet and cereal crops. Furthermore, a new and modern irrigation system, which is integrated in the Irrigation Community of the Canal de Riaza, chaired by Luis Sanz for 30 years, can also be found. The Duero, the river bathing these peaceful lands. Its waters reaching the riverside cool down this sunny estate. The flowing river sounds as if you were listening to a song while strolling along the paths and pine groves that make up the Dehesa de los Canónigos. |
